Preparing your house to sell can be ONE BIG NIGHTMARE! It's so easy to get wrapped up in a mile long to-do list while simultaneously packing your belongings up. To make the selling process less strenuous on you & your family, here are 4 steps to prepare your house to sell.
DEPERSONALIZE - The house should feel like home to the buyer - not you! The less personal things (family photos, dog/children toys, family name signs) you have in your house, the more the buyer can visualize themselves living in the house.
REMOVE CLUTTER - Everything should be organized and have a place! Your home should feel spacious after decluttering. If you have things that you want to bring with you after the move, renting a storage pod is reasonably priced and will make sorting your personable items easy.
MAINTENANCE! - What maintenance upkeep have you disregarded over the years? GET THEM FIXED NOW! If you don't fix it now, the buyer's inspector will more than likely find the issue and ask you to get it fixed within a small timeframe. Making sure your landscape, appliances, roof, HVAC, & windows are in good condition is KEY to making your home come across to buyers as being well taken care of.
STAGING - Whether it's professional or done by a friend who has good taste, staging your home can make or break a sale. Staging can maximize the best attributes of your home and minimize the downsides of your home. Staging also helps create a positive first impression for buyers!
Moving & getting your house ready to sell can be stressful. By planning ahead, you can avoid running into mishaps down the road that will be costly! Hopefully these tips helped you gather a list of things you can do to prepare & ENJOY the steps leading toward your move.
